Through these 16 years of my entrepreneurial journey, there are a number of entrepreneurial aspects I have imbibed and acquired from the challenges at work as well in the personal life. However, one the most important of those aspects is the art of balancing both personal and professional life with maximum efficiency and consistency.
I have learnt from both my work and my personal life that none of them is different or distinguishing in any sort of way. But, still, when within the corporate set up, we often must make sure of setting a parameter for both the worlds to be the best at both. And here are some of the mantras I practised in my life to balance both Personal and Professional Life in the most optimum way as possible.
The 5 mantras are as follows: 1. Being Happy is the Primary and the Ultimate JobPeople often try to balance their work and personal life thinking they have to do it as a burden and compulsorily. But we frequently have a tendency to overlook the most crucial aspect of this strategy, which is happiness. You will only experience turmoil if you are involved in something that doesn't make you happy and leaves you unsatisfied at the end of the day. This chaos may last until the end of your life. At all costs, your personal life will be impacted when you are satisfied with what you accomplish. Therefore, the core of all you do in life revolves around your level of job satisfaction.
When you’re happy with what you do, your personal life will be affected at all costs. Thence, satisfaction with your work stands at the heart of whatever you do in life. There will be bad days at times, but you’ll be able to manage it through only if you have the conviction and love in doing what you do. For your career, pick up what you love the most or the thing that drives you the next morning and helps you outdo your own growth journey. You must love you occupation, it’s the first step to striking a balance.
2. Dedicate at least one Day of the Week to your friends and Family
I strongly believe in the concept of devoting at least one day in every week to your near and dear ones. This one day of the week should be only for your friends & family. You should make sure that you catch up with them. The occasion need not be special every single time. It can be a small meet up, for instance, you could gather with your people for lunch or dinner or even a shopping time together or sitting and chit chatting in a café.
Laugh your heart out loud when you meet them and make some memories together. At the end of the day, these people are the ones who would stand by you in all situations, and it is very important to take out time, understand how their lives are going on and enjoy some quality time with them every now and then.
3. Unplug and Re-energise
Another essential aspect in life is ensuring a particular period of time that you dedicate wholly and solely to yourself. In this time, you unplug yourself from the rest of the world and do something to help you have a “me-time” and rejuvenise.
You must always go ahead in finding something that is lucrative and re-energising for your mind. It could be exercising, catching up with old folks, reading a book, going out to hang out or for shopping, playing with your little one or having your favourite dish.
By the term “re-energise”, you must think of something that holistically helps you re-ignite and recharge yourself. These small little breaks are essential for you to get back to work with the energy and endurance you need in order to work in the more efficient manner.
4. Have a Hobby for Yourself and Pursue it
There must be at least some hobby or passion in life that helps you drive yourself out like nuts. It could be anything that helps you lose your mind for a little while when you have been trying to keep both your worlds together so hard since a very long time. Giving time to this hobby must be practised at least once in a week to feel alive and ensure that you’re taking out time to fulfil what you heart says amidst all the struggles you’re facing on a daily basis.
Talking of myself, I enjoy travelling a lot and find the experience thrilling. Rather than staying in one place all the time, I like to travel and explore what’s beyond. It gives me some perspective when I watch the outside world from a different lens. I also like watching movies, especially the romantic comedies. I watch early morning shows by stealing my time from my child and work.
5. Express yourself
The ultimate aspect that stands integral into making sure of a perfect balanced life is by expressing oneself. Most of the times, we are so busy and struggling with life that we often forget that our emotions and what we’re feeling inside needs a vent out. While all the hectic schedule is happening, it is important to take out some time just to ensure that no emotions of yours, may it be happiness or frustration, piles up within you. May it be in the form of writing or talking to a close friend. It helps you stay focused and upright for the coming days when you would be working tirelessly.
The above mentioned 5 mantras are something that I believe in practising. They help me in maintain a perfect balance in both the spheres of life and staying dedicated to each of them.
