I always wondered how much fun would road trips be …until I took one myself !!! Right through the beautiful landscape of United Kingdom , taking halts at unexplored locations , it definitely was a roadtrip of a lifetime.

Work has taken me to England a number of times and It made me explore all possible areas where I could find warehouse , client offices and other corporate accounts. But this one time I travelled for my husband ‘s passion – Liverpool Football club . So we planned everything around the Liverpool – Manchester match last October at Anfield , which was another level of experience !!

Working day in and day out, we usually forget to remove time for our family and ourselves. This little mini vacation gave me a little time to spend with myself , my thoughts and my husband.

After landing in London, we went to Milton Keynes where we spent time with our friends. From there, we took a car and started with our adventure. Our first stop was at Loch Lomond, the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain. The loch contains many islands, including Inchmurrin, the largest fresh-water island in the British Isles. After grasping the beauty of this island, we continued to see the most beautiful destination, the Isle of Sky.

To reach to the Isle of Sky, we took the car in a ferry and traveled through the beautiful waters. The Isle of Skye is the second largest island of Scotland, with a 50-mile-long patchwork of velvet moors, jagged mountains, sparkling lochs and towering sea cliffs. The stunning scenery is the main attraction, but when the mist closes in there are plenty of castles, crofting museums and cozy pubs and restaurants; there are also dozens of art galleries and craft studios. We had the chance to adore this beauty for 2 days and then we continued our trip moving on to Inverness.

Inverness in Scotland is known as the 'Highland Capital', still retaining its market town feel from back to its early development. It is in the north of Scotland and is one of the smallest cities in Scotland with some 55,000 people. Our next halt was at Loch Ness, approximately 37 km southwest of Inverness. It is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands with a surface that is 52 feet above sea level. Loch Ness is best known for alleged sightings of the cryptozoological Loch Ness Monster.

These parts of Scotland are hidden gems , they are located in the middle of nowhere but absolutely breathtaking where you can hear your heartbeat and feel the intensity of your thoughts . We passed through lush green mountains , rivers , lakes and tunnels… Scotland never stopped surprising with its beauty! Since we were driving it gave us opportunity to take different routes and non explored paths.

After these delightful destinations, we continued to Glasgow. Glasgow grew from a small rural settlement on the River Clyde to become the largest seaport in Britain. Our next, and final destination before heading back to London, was Edinburgh. Edinburgh has an elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings and a medieval Old Town. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers.

And we reached back to London. Awaiting at London was the football match, Liverpool vs Manchester United, the most exciting part about our journey. A day to remember and a moment we could never forget, was sitting in the stadium and feeling the rush of actually watching the 2 biggest rivals play together.

Sometimes you need getaways, such beautiful places leave you speechless and give you a new perspective to your thoughts . We often forget to make conversations with ourselves which I feel solitude gives you a chance to do . It was a perfect break between two conference , although my husband won’t agree as I was continuously on emails and connected to office. But my idea of a holiday has never been to disconnect , it has always been to add experiences with work and grasp the glory of being able to travel because of the wonderful industry I belong to. These travel days make me learn more about life and have helped me in becoming what I am today. There is something that awakens inside of you when you travel and get new experiences in life.
